At the helm is Star Trek director JJ Abrams who said: “We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”
Open auditions were held in the UK late last year for two roles, although it hasn’t been confirmed that these roles are part of the main cast.
The screenplay for Star Wars Episode VII will be written by JJ Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan and is released on December 18, 2015.
