Should a self-driving car kill two jaywalkers or one law-abiding citizen? That's the question that we have all been asking ourselves thanks to the team of evil geniuses at MIT as they research the moral codes of the public. It's hard to figure out what a car should do, let alone think when placed with the dilemma of killing a child or an elderly lady, the pedestrian or the passenger or even a cat or a dog.
The Moral Machine is something that we attempted over lunch today, (morbid i know) but as a team we were surprisingly heroic! We saved the pedestrians where possible, our chivalry was off the charts and even though Charlotte put up a good speech to save our four-legged friends we sacrificed quite a few dogs over people.
But this, just like most of the conversations at 8Ball HQ has gone slightly left field and left us asking what we would do if we were faced with other moral options. Faced with the moral dilemma who would you hit? Let us know what choices you made on Twitter or on Facebook.
