Saving the best until last? TV shows finales rated!
Spoilers… spoilers… and more spoilers
Doing the rounds over the last couple of days has been a pretty interesting graphic drawn up by reddit user ChallengeResponse, who painstaking gathered IMDB ratings for over 100 TV series and plotted the difference between the average episode rating against that of the series finale.
Included in the hefty study were classic sitcoms like The Office, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and 30 Rock to acclaimed dramas Mad Men, Breaking Bad and The Sopranos.

There’s always the old adage that a TV show starts to lose its quality after a few seasons but this shows more the effect that a strong closing can have on the legacy of our favourite small screen stories.

Heading up the Top 5 of best performing finales were Glee, Charmed, Newhart, Sex and the City and Revolution whose final episodes were deemed to be more highly thought of than the rest of their on screen run.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the spectrum, the endings that almost ruined years of good work were from Two and a Half Men, How I Met Your Mother, True Blood, Dragon Ball Z and Dexter.
Taken from user submitted ratings you can clearly see how some series, like Glee, went out with a bang even after some pretty average series. Whilst shows like The Office (US) survived a pretty patchy couple of years by giving us all the closure we needed.
Two not so surprising appearances come from Dexter and How I Met Your Mother with fans still reeling for some half cooked story lines that probably got more coverage than the rest of the series.
What do you reckon though? Any finales you thought were better than expected that have been missed?
